  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 34 tbsp ice water
  • 3 medium apples (Granny Smith and Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tbsp water, optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Gradually add ice water until dough forms. Wrap in plastic wrap; refrigerate for 1 hour.
  2. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Roll chilled dough into a rough circle (about 12 inches). Transfer to the baking sheet.
  4. Toss apple slices with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice; arrange in the center of the dough. Fold edges over apples.
  5. Brush edges with egg wash if desired. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
