Ingredients

Scale

2 cups glutinous rice

1 can (400ml) full-fat coconut milk

1 cup packed brown sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

Optional toppings: latik or toasted coconut flakes

Instructions

Rinse and soak glutinous rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight. Drain.

In a large bowl, mix soaked rice, coconut milk, brown sugar, and salt until well combined.

Transfer the mixture to a non-stick saucepan over medium heat. Stir continuously for about 10-15 minutes until thickened.

Pour into a greased rectangular baking dish and steam for 30-40 minutes until set.

Allow cooling for 15-20 minutes before cutting into squares.

Notes

For added flavor, experiment with toppings like fresh mango slices or caramel drizzle.

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
