This festive, savory pull-apart bread shaped like a Christmas tree is filled with cheesy goodness and fresh spinach, making it a perfect holiday appetizer. Soft, fluffy dough, gooey mozzarella, and tangy feta cheese create a delightful treat for your holiday table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup whole milk (warmed)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 cups fresh spinach (washed)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

Instructions

  • Activate the Yeast: Mix warm milk and sugar, then add the yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  • Prepare the Dough: In a bowl, combine flour, salt, melted butter, yeast mixture, and spinach. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead and Rise: Knead for 8 minutes, then let rise in a greased bowl for 1 hour, until doubled in size.
  • Shape the Dough: Punch down dough, roll it into a rectangle, sprinkle with cheese, and roll into a log. Slice into equal parts.
  • Form the Christmas Tree: Stack dough pieces on a parchment-lined baking sheet to form a tree shape. Rest for 20 minutes.
  • Bake: Bake at 375°F for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown. Serve warm with marinara or garlic butter.
