Ingredients
Scale
- 1 whole turkey (12–14 lbs), thawed
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¼ cup fresh rosemary, finely chopped
- ¼ cup fresh thyme, finely chopped
- ¼ cup fresh sage, finely chopped
- ¼ cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tablespoons kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon freshly cracked black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 325°F (163°C). Rinse the turkey under cold water and pat it dry with paper towels. Place it on a roasting rack inside a roasting pan.
- Prepare Herb-Butter Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine softened butter, fresh herbs, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix well until smooth.
- Season the Turkey: Loosen the skin on the turkey’s breast and thighs. Spread the herb-butter mixture beneath the skin and over the entire surface. Season the turkey’s cavity with salt and pepper.
- Roast the Turkey: Place the turkey in the preheated oven and roast at 325°F (163°C) for about 13 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Baste: Baste the turkey with pan drippings every 30 minutes to ensure a moist, golden skin. Monitor the turkey closely and adjust cooking time as necessary.
- Rest and Serve: Once fully roasted, remove the turkey from the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes before carving and serving.
